Worship

Family Worship Services

All are invited to join us every Sunday morning at 9:30 at our service of worship.

Children and young people attend the first part of our service and then may join the "Wesley Kidz" or Youth Group as they follow the Seasons of the Spirit programme with Bible study, arts, crafts and much more.

Weekday Worship

Services for those unable to come to the Sunday morning service.

Weekday Worship is held in the Church at 2.30 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month except January.

   Communion

Wesley Church is a member of the Tauranga Methodist Parish

At Wesley we celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month. We have an open table, which means that we welcome anyone to join us in receiving the elements (bread and grape juice) from any background of faith, or none. It is Methodist practice not to serve wine, but unfermented grape juice. People are invited to come forward for communion, and may kneel or stand. For those unable to move easily, the Presbyter or an assistant will serve them where they are seated.

God loves variety. At Wesley Church we endeavour to celebrate variety in the ways we worship. Whether we are praising God through traditional music, worshipping with contemporary Christian song, appreciating the beauty of our floral arrangements or challenged by the words of prayers or Scripture, there are many ways people’s gifts are used in the Wesley community. Music is a very important part of the Wesley tradition. The Wesley Choir makes a valued contribution to our services, opening worship and leading the congregational singing. The organ, and sometimes other instruments, enrich our worship.

It has truly been said that 'Methodism was born in song', and this is probably because Charles Wesley wrote over 6000 hymns, some of them still being sung today, almost 300 years later. Click here to see what John Wesley had  to say about singing..
