Walking Groups

What are the Wesley Walking Groups?

The Monday Wesley Walking group was started about fifteen years ago by George Evans and included people from St. Stephens Church.

Ken Dey took over the leadership some time later and it changed into more of a tramping group so that we did more ambitious one day tramps like climbing Mt Te Aroha and Mt Karangahake.  

We have done a lot of the DOC tracks in the Kaimai Ranges and over in the Rotorua area. We only do tramps that can be done in a day. It is a very informal group of about fifteen or so people, but normally about eight to ten come on the day. We do it because we enjoy the bush, the outdoors and each other's company.

In this secton you'll find a recorded history of many of the walks around the Bay of Plenty. The stories about the tramps are e-mails written by Maurice Boniface to his family; hence the reference to his wife as "Mum". Included are photographs of some of the sights and artifacts they've discovered. 

They invite you to relax with a cup of tea and spend some time reading about their adventures...then join them!
