Wesley is Motekiai’s second parish. His first appointment was at Lindisfarne Methodist Parish in Invercargill where he ministered for six years. He is supported by his wife, ‘Anaise, and daughter, Isabelle. Prior to his parish ministry, he was a candidate from Waterview Methodist Parish in Auckland, and the conference accepted him to start training at St John’s Trinity College in 2000. He graduated in 2002 and served as a probationer for two years before ordination at the 2004 Conference in Auckland. Motekiai enjoys pastoral visiting and preaching but finds it most rewarding to encourage people in their life’s journey with Christ. He is looking forward to walking with all those who need a companion along the way . |

After a former life in hospital pharmacy, Viv felt the call to train for church ministry, majoring in pastoral studies. However, work with children, young people and families is also an interest and a focus of her job as Ministry Assistant at Wesley. She is a trainer for the Seasons of the Spirit church life resource, enjoys writing and serves on several wider church groups. She and husband Jeremy share four children, a son- and daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and a love of music. |

Valma's life has been rooted in Methodism, having been born into a traditional Methodist family. She is married with three adult sons. Her Diaconal ministry involves her in the support and encouragement of those people affected by dementia. She is Senior Field Officer for the Alzheimer Society in Tauranga, which takes up 30 hours per week of her time. Pastoral care of the older members of the Wesley congregation fills in the rest of her covenanted ministry. |
